History of our christmas light display:

Our Christmas display started out as a small project about 15 years ago, to light up the wooden cross that was at the top of the small steeple. It took us one string of C-7 bulbs (35 bulbs to a sting) to do this project. About 2 years later, we decided to add 7 strings of lights to a pine tree in front of the church. That was the start of something big. From then on, we have been adding lights each year. We then put lights up on the small trees at the back of the house (5 sets for trees and 2 for the railings). We just kept adding lights each year, around the house, and the church.

We added a manger 5 or 6 years ago. It was a homemade wooden manager. We had that manger for 2 or 3 years. We then got a lead of where to get the plastic figures for a manger, We went with a basic set, and added a new stable. We changed this manger last year to a larger one, and got all the figures for the manger from a neighbor that was getting out of the Christmas lights.

We add, on average, 5 to 10 stings a year. We try to find to new ways, and places to put up lights each year. So far we have been able to do so. In 1998, we added 4 twinkle sets, 12 sets to the church, and 8 sets to the side of the house. We also been phasing out some of our minis that have been causing us lots of problems. Some died during ice storm '98, some just don't want to work any more, or work when they want to.

We now have a good mix of different types of lights. Our light inventory is C-9 bulbs, C-7 bulbs, mini bulbs, plastic figures, wooden cutouts, various sizes of twinkle lights, flood lights, and colored light bulbs.
